Chasing Greatness

Acting up or reaching out?

938 0

Our kids lives were turned upside down in mid March.

Now that school has begun, in some form or another, we need to realize our kids are feeling these types of emotions without the tools to deal with them.

  • Anger
  • Fear
  • Uncertainty
  • Sadness
  • Anxiety
  • Disappointment
  • Loss

Their brains will not be fully development until their early to mid 20’s.

If our kids are not acting like themselves in practice, school or even at home there is a reason for it.

It’ s our responsibility to meet them where they are and help them through this with patience, communication and connection.

Their nervous systems cannot take on any more stress.

Getting back to ‘normal’ does not mean we treat them, teach them or coach them as if the past six months never happened.

If there has ever been a time to communicate with their coaches on their behalf it’s now.

This is not to say we should take away the power for them to self advocate. I’m saying we need to have their backs…like never before.

They need to be heard.
